Typo Illustration

The goal of this project was to make typography tangible and expressive. Not just to show the meaning of words, but to visualize the feeling they evoke through form. The final assignment was to create a magazine spread in which text and design come together to tell one unified story.

Chaos represents the energy, tension, and raw intensity of the nu-metal style in which Sam Rivers played.
Within Limp Bizkit, he was the stable force who gave the music its depth whenever chaos loomed.
In my spread, these two elements come together in the title: the heavy red letters of RIVERS express the weight and power of the bass, while the rough textures

and chaotic contours make the unrest and energy of the music tangible. The combination of these two forces, depth and chaos, creates the visual balance of the design

and translates the musical character of Sam Rivers into typography.
